Jellyvision
May, 2000 – May, 2001
Digital Artist (Flash artist and programmer)
Utilized Macromedia Flash to design online games and
animations. Tasks included on-screen graphics, programming (ActionScript),
synching to music and sound effects, conceptualization. Used Microsoft Visual
SourceSafe for tracking the modification of assets by programmers and artists.
www.jellyvision.com (intro animations): Flash logo animations are called
randomly upon entering the Jellyvision web page. Random motion (when
appropriate) coded in ActionScript.
Primetime
Pitch (pogo.com): This 4-player
game is featured on www.pogo.com. Responsibilites included production of
backgrounds and bodies that mimicked the style of the caricatures, but were
also generic enough to “fit” with multiple show types. Seen in “promo” portion
of the game. The objective of the game is to create a television show using
cards with stars, plots and twists. At the end of the round animated “promos”
are shown for all the programs on the schedule.
Outsmart (Microsoft): Concept artist. Early develpment
required a modular approach since assets for new episodes were to be generated
by the client.
FREEJACK (Sierra): “You Don’t Know Jack”, online version.
Responsible for all design and initial programming of game architecture.
Questions and answers are loaded from external files (XML), making the game
very easy to update.
Enuff About
You (Beta): Responsible
for all art and programming. Flash concept for 3-player, single keyboard game.
Players are asked to answer a series of questions. Later the players are asked
questions based on the answers they gave previously.
Trendmasters
October, 1995 – May, 2000
Multimedia and Game Designer
Responsible for the development and execution of interactive
applications available on CD-ROM and floppy disk. Tasks included on-screen and
print graphics, programming (Lingo), music and sound effects,
conceptualization, character design, storyboards, narrative content. In
addition I developed the entire pixel-art procedure for generating C-Watch
animations (see below).
E-cards: Dynamic Flash
cards you can send to your friends. HTML form generates the message text
(stored on server) and email. When recipient visits the URL Flash file is
passed variable to load the appropriate text.
C-technology
development (C-Watch,
C-Pens, C-books, etc.): Conceptualized and documented the process for creating
32x32 pixel animations synched with sound. Wrote Photoshop Actions to expedite
the process. Batch process allowed quick export of images, which were imported
into Director for animating with sound. Lingo code would then export
tab-delimited text documents which outlined the sequence of images to be
displayed in conjunction with a particular sound. Open the document in Excel
(tab-to-column conversion) for final formatting. Combine all these elements
(32x32 images, sounds, Excel animation sheet and the DEMO.EXE made with
Director) in a zip archive, send it to Hong Kong for production. Entire process
was outlined in a 26-page document I called “C-Watch Development Tech Notes”,
used to assist new C-Watch animators.
War Planets:
Age of Chaos (Windows95/98,
DOS): You might have seen the CG
cartoon War Planets created by
MainFrame Studios (ReBoot). Most of
the design concepts for the cartoon started with this game, another CD-ROM
project tied to a Trendmasters toy line. I was used exclusively as an artist on
this project. I designed several of the levels, as well as creating the terrain
used as background on those levels. Even levels generated entirely in 3D
required some Photoshop touch-up. I was sound designer for most of the
cut-scene animations, all of which are based on my storyboards. The
environments for most of the missions were derived from my drawings.
Cinderella
Starcastle CD-ROM: Made with
Macromedia Director 5.01, dual platform. I was the Art Director on this
project, but I also did a substantial amount of Lingo programming. This
activity-based CD for young girls is derived from the popular Trendmasters toy
line, Starcastles. My tasks included all interface design, sound design, Lingo
programming, providing sketches for artists’ reference in producing finished
line work (which I then digitally colored), and final implementation of all
in-game graphics. I also drafted a style guide for use by other digital artists
in the creation of final artwork.
Mission Disks (Independence Day, Mars Attacks!, Gumby, etc.): Made with
Macromedia Director 5.01, dual platform. These little apps used to come on a
floppy with a Trendmasters toy and were available for download on Trendmasters’
webpage. Casper’s Haunted Treasure Hunt was the most downloaded file for over two
years.
